September 1966 – attended BCIT, Electronics Technology program. Worked for IBM Service in Victoria between terms. Active with BCIT Photo Directorate, last year as Photo Director for Annual and Student newspaper.
June 1969 – Graduated with a Diploma of Technology, Electronics Option
July 1969 – IBM Calgary, General Systems Division – Hardware support on data entry machines, System 3 and System 32 Operating Systems support
1970 – Teaching Adult dinghy sailing programs for Calgary Junior Sailing School and Calgary Parks and Recreation in the evenings.
May 1978 – Married Fran in Calgary
April 1980 – Moved to Sidney and Fran and I opened Gulf Islands Cruising School Ltd., teaching live-aboard sailing courses. Took over PRS Yacht Charters and expanded into charters and power instruction.
1988 – Transport Canada Certificate – Master of Small Passenger Craft, 40 Ton, 40 Passengers, working part-time for Oak Bay Beach Hotel as Captain of the cruise vessels.
April 1990 – Our son, Steven was born.
November 1997 – started working for West Coast Powerboat Handling, teaching powerboat handling courses to commercial operators. Now Transport Canada certified to deliver courses throughout Western Canada.
January 2005 – Separated the charter division to our service manager, we retained control of the school. Specializing in private instruction to new yacht owners. Largest vessel was a 86′ motor yacht.
2009 – Started Gulf Islands Web Services doing web design and search engine optimization
2015 – Still teaching Transport Canada courses, private instruction and yacht deliveries. Active teaching with Canadian Power & Sail Squadrons.
We have our home in Sidney and Steven and his dog, Chevy, are living with us.
